So sad to learn that Stanley Meadows has passed away. I met him when I worked in a dental practice in London. He was a true gentleman. I remember him asking me to call his wife so that he could let her know he’d finished his treatment and was on his way home. I loved it when he said, “I’ll pop into Harrods and buy a nice cake for our tea.” He was such fun and always made us laugh with his stories. One day, he arrived at the practice dressed as an Arab sheikh. He said he’d bought the costume to wear to a fancy dress but, as he hadn’t been invited to a fancy dress, he thought he’d wear it to the practice just to make us laugh.

It’s very hard to find out any information on retired actors. A glance at Ancestry.co.uk suggests he died in 2000; but fans of the cult shows he appeared in were still celebrating his birthday in their Facebook groups last year as if he was still alive.

Your best bet would be to write to British Actors’ Equity, the trade union for performers, to ask them.

I used to serve this lovely man in the main Post Office in Kensington High Street in London in the mid seventies. Polite beyond words, Stanley had a finger in a pie in a small garage business as I recall. Never pretentious, always grateful for the service he received, he was a joy to meet.

There was a guy who was a trainer on one of my jobs, he was with another guy, i’ll say this
the bloke was a spit double for stanley Meadows, if you put him beside Stanley you’d never tell the difference, Absolutely amazing resemblance, doesn’t have a Twin brother not Associated with Acting does he 😁😁
